Every major piece of software has an "About Box," which usually is only used to display the version information, and maybe some credits. Macromedia asked me to do a full-blown multimedia About Box for a major upgrade of Macromedia Director (whcih was, at the time, the flagship product of Macromedia). They gave me complete freedom, with only one direction: "Make it cool." They wanted something that would really set it apart. I created this- a fun little interactive presentation that goes far beyond giving the basic software information. I chose to highlight some of the more flashy new features of the release in the FUN section, and then put them to practical use in the CREDITS section. I am pleased with the mechanical feel of the tab buttons, and the bizarre animation of the "view large quad animation.". I designed the interface in 3D, and built the project with a beta of Director 7. I created everything inside this project, including the audio and music.
